NCCUMC Disaster Recovery Ministries Established NC UMC Disaster Recovery Ministries has been established by the Disaster Response Commitee of the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church in response to Hurricane Irene. We have established our denomination as a leader in this event as we work Four Disaster Recovery Centers have been established in Manteo, Aurora, Much work consists of repairing flooded homes (floors, walls, insulation, electrical) with some roof and interior repair. At each of our disaster sites we have team housing with sleeping quarters, kitchens, and showers.
Each volunteer team
will be made up of no more than 10 members with skills appropriate
to particular projects.
US
teams will be supplied by UMVIM. Each
team of volunteers are asked to provide from $3,000 to Teams will be scheduled through the the office of the US/Haiti Coordinator, which will assure that necessary paper work covering insurance, finances, and travel is appropriately handled.
